TV Mounting Height & Placement Guide
Getting the height right matters as much as the size. Here's how to place your TV so it's comfortable to watch for hours.

The rule
Aim for the center of the screen at seated eye level — about 42” (107 cm) from the floor for a typical sofa, a touch higher for a kitchen or bar where you stand. Bigger screens naturally sit a little lower because their center is higher off their base.
| Living room (sofa) | Center ~42” off floor |
| Bedroom (from bed) | Higher + tilt down |
| Kitchen / bar (standing) | Center ~48–60” |
| Desk / office | Top of screen at eye level |
TV wall mounts
A good mount puts the screen at the right height and lets you angle it away from glare. Match the mount's VESA pattern and weight rating to your TV, and use full-motion arms for wide or off-center rooms.

Frequently asked questions
How high should a TV be mounted?
Put the center of the screen at seated eye level — usually about 42” off the floor for a sofa. In a bedroom viewed from bed, mount a little higher and tilt down.
Should I mount my TV above the fireplace?
It's popular but often too high, straining your neck. If you must, choose a pull-down or tilting mount and keep the center as low as the mantel allows.
What VESA size do I need?
VESA is the hole spacing on the TV's back (e.g. 200×200, 400×400 mm). Match your mount to it and to the TV's weight — both are listed in the TV's specs.
