TVDistance exists to answer one deceptively tricky question: what size screen should I buy, and how far away should I sit?

Too many people buy a TV that's the wrong size for their room — then either strain to see detail or feel overwhelmed up close. We turn the established THX and SMPTE viewing-angle standards into plain, instant answers for TVs, monitors and projectors, in the units you actually use.

How we keep it accurate

Every figure is calculated from transparent 16:9 geometry — no affiliate bias in the numbers. Our methodology page shows the exact formulas and their limits. We update reference data periodically and note the last-reviewed date on every page.

How the site is funded

TVDistance is supported by light advertising and optional affiliate links to relevant gear (mounts, screens, monitor arms). These never change our recommendations. You can also tip the project directly.
